For some bizarre reason Asian woman want to be whiter, and some take it to ridiculous lengths and look like a poorly Michael Jackson. Recent years saw the fastest growth period in the cosmetic industry, with a growth rate of 20 percent. In the main the current economic climate is having a negative impact on consumption levels, with an average market value of approximately 10,000 million Baht. In Thailand there were very few manufacturers of skin-care cosmetics. Nearly all these manufacturers are foreign corporations who established a production base in Thailand. The majority of cleansing, skin-care products, and cosmetics that were distributed to the market were brought in. The only customers who had the means to afford these products and the production of cleansing and skin-care cosmetics in Thailand is still growing despite the current downturn.
